Our Recent Road Trip to Michigan City

With the price of gas and economic downturn, a family trip from Hammond to Michigan City is a big deal. That’s how we spent last Saturday.

First, we witnessed the opening of Democratic HQ on Hwy 20. Fun for me. Among the speakers were gubernatorial candidate Jill Long Thompson and Congressman Joe Donnelly. In a bit of news, LaPorte County Councilman Jerry Cooley was introduced as the Democratic candidate for 20th District State Representative. Up until now, Democrats have not had a candidate for that seat. I had a chance to meet Jill and found her to be very approachable, very confident, and very down to earth.

From there, we went to Washington Park for a day at the beach. Finally, fun for the whole family. I have to say that I was quite impressed with the beach. It is one of the cleanest beaches that I have seen in Northwest Indiana in recent years.
