Too Fried To Do My Own Work

I have been home lately (indefinitely) doing Daddy Day Care while my wife picks up her career as a special-ed teacher after a 12 year absence. Needless to say this change has rocked my world. Maybe it’s the new craziness of my life or maybe I am just feeling burned out from breaking up arguments and fighting with my kids to get them to do their chores but I am going to rely on my fellow Indiana bloggers for this next post. Without further ado, here are some thought provoking posts that I came across in my daily blog-go-round earlier this morning.

The AFL-CIO Now Blog: We Pay Taxes. Most Corporations Don’t.
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) reported that two-thirds of both American and foreign companies doing business here end up avoiding all income tax obligations to the federal government, despite corporate sales totaling $2.5 trillion.
Also From the AFL-CIO Blog: U.S. Internet Speed Could be 100 Years behind Japan
If the average U.S. Internet speed continues to improve at the same rate it did from 2007 to 2008, we won’t catch up with Japan’s current download speed for 100 years. That’s the troubling finding from the Communications Workers of America’s (CWA’s) Speed Matters campaign.
Lalita over at American Values Alliance is rightfully concerned over the lack of support that Hillary Clinton supporters are giving to Barack Obama.
She knows good and well that these women will never vote for Senator Obama. Her masterful manipulation of language has ensured that. And she doesn't care that the GOP is watching and capturing every virtiol-filled word, so we can all watch it on an endless loop on FOX or on McCain attack ads. I think Bil O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck will have to be wearing bibs and Depends during the Democratic National Convention to capture embarrassing leaks (yeah, I said that). They may just ascend into Right Wing heaven after the convention...or spontaneously combust.
Lalita also posted this video to make her case:

Mythological Crossroads wonders what effect John McCain’s war mindset would have on our relationship with Iran in “neocons + McCain’s war mindset + Iran = nuclear volleys?”

There is plenty more to write about today. Among other things, Mitch is talking about privatizing the state lottery again. Hopefully I will get to some of that before I head off for work this evening. In the meantime, I am off to crack the whip and get these kids to do their chores. They start school next Wednesday!
